Crown of Water

Well my second attempt to 'flash capture' some splashes,

....dropping a green fruit into a saucepan of water on the floor of the shower cabinet, with the shower doors protecting me and my camera. gets  a few funny looks from the rest of the house.

Great fun though and will now brush up on 'flash' techniques.

Oh my Goodness! Wow! That's superb!

Go on, say exactly how you set this up. I must try this one day when it's too dark/wet/cold to go out.
Alan Wild: Hi Ellie.
It was set up pretty much as explained above. The shutter speed was set at 1/200th, f/9, 100ISO.
The camera was tripod mounted, level with the saucepan of water.
I dropped the tomato (green) from chest height and triggered the shutter with the shutter release cable.
No fancy flash gun. Just an old Cobra Auto 150 set to manual. Attached to the hot shoe.
There were a couple of shots that were either too early or too late but this shot seemed to have the most potential for post processing.
After a levels adjustment, crop and sharpening in Photoshop, I applied a colour graduated filter. (Nik Software plug in)
Yes...it was an indoor event, favourable for dark, cold rainy days. It's been like that up here for days now.
Hope that's helped.....go for it!
dificult to master but this is good
Alan Wild: Cheers Derek, I'm very pleased with the result, enough to keep me occupied in the forth coming winter nights maybe.
